Supply of a prohibited drug: DPP v PS

Facts: Supply prohibited drug charges

Drug supply/possession cover imageThe Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) charged PS with one count of supply of a prohibited drug, cocaine, and possession of a prohibited drug, cocaine. The amounts were small.

However, the law requires courts to send people to jail who supply prohibited drugs.

Outcome: Guilty plea, no conviction recorded and good behaviour bond

After entering a guilty plea PS received a discharge without record of a conviction and a 12-month good behaviour bond. This outcome was a result of the very powerful character evidence, proven attempts at rehabilitation and the potential impact on his career.

In conclusion, although the Prosecution lodged a Crown appeal, they later abandoned it.
