SA – Client awarded compensation for child abuse claims

Facts: Suing a private sporting institution for abuse and grooming behaviour

Historic Institutional AbuseSA made an ex-gratia claim against a private sporting institution. This was for abuse and grooming behaviour perpetrated on her as a young woman. The claim extended not only to the abuse, but also the negligent conduct of the institution in responding to the disclosure of the abuse. The claim arose out of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Outcome: Settled at mediation for very significant compensation payment

SA’s case proceeded outside of court, and settled as a mediation. SA received a very significant compensation payment to reflect the years of pain and suffering she had experienced as a result of the incidents.
