Tabloid posts picture from Instagram implying man cheating on spouse

A tabloid media company posted a photo of Ryan, stating that he was a ‘toyboy’ of a celebrity. Someone had posted his photo into an Instagram account under a fake name without his knowledge. This fake name had the same name as the person the celebrity was actually dating.

Ryan and his partner received many messages and calls from concerned friends and family. These people thought that the relationship had broken down or that Ryan had been cheating on his partner.

Defamation action leads to big payment and published apology

After negotiations over the potential defamation, Ryan received a significant sum of money. The magazine also published an apology.
