Bethany graduated from Macquarie University with a combined Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Applied Finance. She obtained First Class Honours after completing a thesis on the interaction between the rule of law and strip search powers of NSW Police.
Bethany started with O’Brien Solicitors as a Paralegal, before graduating and joining the Criminal Law team.
Prior to working for O’Brien’s, Bethany worked in Operations at Western Sydney Community Legal Centre, working on the development and implementation of initiatives to increase access to justice in Western Sydney.
Since graduating, Bethany has completed the Advocacy in Practice Course, honing her oral advocacy skills. She recently returned from a secondment to NAAJA in Alice Springs NT, where she assisted clients on a duty basis, including appearances at remote bush courts in Ali Curang and Ti Tree.

Bethany works full-time in our criminal team, where she regularly appears at courts across Greater Sydney in Hearings, Sentences and contested applications.
She has instructed counsel at District Court trials and assisted with complex Coronial Inquests and matters in the Court of Criminal Appeal.
Bethany undertakes a significant amount of work related to Sexual Assault Communications Privilege, protecting complainant’s rights to privacy in sexual assault trials.

Outside of her work at O’Brien’s, she volunteers with DanceWize NSW, an organization committed to harm reduction at music festivals in NSW.
