Teenager robs Domino’s Pizza Store
TJ, who was a teenager, and three friends planned to rob a Domino’s Pizza Store. TJ and one other friend confronted the workers, while the other two looked out. He was a wearing a balaclava and armed with a large machete.
He then grabbed a worker and dragged him to the cash register. TJ held the knife directly to the worker’s neck and smashed a computer screen. Two days later, TJ presented himself to the police station and confessed to his actions.
Substantially shorter sentence than the maximum

Under instructions from TJ, we pleaded guilty to one charge of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon. We successfully outlined TJ’s fair rehabilitation prospects, including his strong ties with his family and the community.
TJ got a sentence of 3 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 1 year and 9 months, to be served in a youth justice facility. The maximum sentence for this aggravated offence is 25 years imprisonment.
