Aboriginal woman complains about police officer’s wife

DM was an elderly Aboriginal woman. Her case followed an incident involving her sister-in-law’s encounter with the wife of a police officer. The sister-in-law had made an allegation that the police officer’s wife had assaulted her. The officer’s wife was, however, acquitted of the charges.

Police charge relative of woman with offensive behaviour

A month later, a male police officer was questioning the client’s nephews. DM stepped in which resulted in the police officer leaving the situation. Following this even, our client received a court attendance notice which charged her with offensive behaviour. The officer also wrote a letter to the client’s employer outlining her behaviour.

We sue police for malicious prosecution

DM was acquitted of the charges, and commenced an action to sue the police for malicious prosecution. O’Brien Criminal and Civil Solicitors represented DM in her civil claim against the police and successfully received a settlement.
