Facts of unlawful arrest

Suing the PoliceIF attempted to move towards a friend who was assaulted and arrested by police. The police officers told IF to get back, and kicked out towards him. Police then sprayed IF with capsicum spray, assaulted him and placed him under arrest.

Consequently, IF suffered chest pains and temporary blindness. He was in custody for approximately 4 hours and charges were later dismissed.

Result of suing the Police

IF began a claim and sued the police for false imprisonment, assault, battery and malicious prosecution. The matter settled.
