Facts: Indigenous man punched unconscious by police officer
TW, an Indigenous male, was arrested by police officers and detained in a holding cell at a police station. During this time, TW was assaulted by police officers who punched him in the face repeatedly, causing TW to lose consciousness. TW was then left in the holding cell without medical assistance for some minutes. Following the incident, one of the police officers was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Outcome: We sue NSW Police for assault and battery
O’Brien Criminal and Civil Solicitors subsequently commenced civil action against the NSW Police for assault and battery. TW received significant compensation.
