After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from University of Delhi, Anavi completed her Juris Doctor at the University of New South Wales in 2024. Anavi was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW in March 2025.
Before joining the firm in 2023, Anavi volunteered as a Legal Assistant at Redfern Legal Centre, where she assisted with a range of community-based legal matters.
She has also contributed to several human rights organisations in Delhi, including the India HIV/AIDS Alliance and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
During this time, Anavi facilitated Expressive Arts Theatre workshops for female inmates at Tihar Jail, India’s largest prison.
Anavi now practises as a civil solicitor at the firm, routinely appearing in the District and Supreme Courts of New South Wales, instructing counsel in civil hearings at the District Court of New South Wales, and briefing counsel in racial discrimination matters in the Federal Court.
She works across a range of complex civil litigation matters, including historical childhood sexual abuse claims; police accountability matters, including false imprisonment and malicious prosecution; sexual abuse in correctional facilities; racial discrimination matters in the Federal Court; and general civil litigation across multiple jurisdictions.
Particularly, Anavi currently represents survivors of abuse perpetrated by former corrections officer Wayne Astill at Dillwynia Women’s Correctional Centre, whose offending was exposed through the Special Commission of Inquiry into the Circumstances of the Conviction and Incarceration of Wayne Astill.
Anavi has a longstanding interest in international human rights and discrimination law.
She is particularly committed to representing individuals who have experienced institutional injustice and to advancing accountability through civil litigation.
At the centre of Anavi’s practice is a strong commitment to ensuring that individuals who have experienced injustice are heard, supported and effectively represented.
