Tahn has been a member of the O’Brien Criminal and Civil Solicitors team for 5 years. During her time as a criminal solicitor, Tahn has appeared in Local Court hearings and sentences, including negotiating charges and pleas, and having clients acquitted. Tahn has also had matters diverted and dealt with by Mental Health care plans under s.32 and achieved good results on sentence, including non-conviction sentences and bonds. Notably, Tahn has instructed in numerous complex and serious Committal matters and subsequent District Court trials, winning the last 5 District Court trials in which she instructed, resulting in Costs being awarded to clients to cover legal fees in 3 of these trials. Additionally, Tahn instructed in numerous Court of Criminal Appeal matters in appeals against conviction and sentence, and advised and represented clients in ICAC (Independent Commission Against Corruption), NSW Crime Commission, Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, Coronial Inquests, and Proceeds of Crime Proceedings. She has also appeared for Private, Legally Aided and Aboriginal Legal Service Clients.
Tahn has particular experience in areas including: Court of Criminal Appeal matters; Mental Health matters, including mental health diversions pursuant to s.32, Fitness Hearings and Special Hearing matters; Firearms charges; including issues of deemed possession of a firearm and other firearms matters; Manufacture of prohibited drugs matters; Child and adult sexual assault matters; and Sexual Assault Communications Privilege.
