Tabloid posts wrong picture of man’s family member after accident

A tabloid news company wrote an article about Peter and a family member who had suffered from a traumatic accident. The news company posted a photo of his family member. However, the photo was instead of a stranger.

Peter received numerous calls and messages asking if he had been lying to people about the identity of this woman. Other people thought that Peter deliberately provided the news company with a false image.

Peter experienced incredible distress from this error.

Defamation lawsuit averted by payment and apology

We represented Thomas on a no win, no fee basis. We wrote a Concerns Notice to the publisher and negotiated a settlement before having to file any sort of defamation action. Thomas received a sum of money and a written apology on the article.
