Police v MWG Supply prohibited drugs

Supply prohibited drug, Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 Section 25(1) – cocaine – police sting operation – plea of guilty – conviction recorded – fine – good behaviour bond, Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act 1999 Section 9

Facts:

MWG was approached by a man at a Bondi pub, who befriended MWG and asked MWG for help in obtaining drugs. MWG took money from the man and used it to buy a gram of cocaine – MWG did not benefit financially from this transaction. The man was an undercover policeman; MWG was arrested the next day and charged with supplying a prohibited drug.

Outcome:

MWG plead guilty to the charge. The Local Court recorded a conviction against MWG, and sentenced him to a 2-year good behaviour bond and a fine.
