Facts of unlawful arrest

IF attempted to move towards a friend who was being assaulted and arrested by police. The police officers told IF to get back, and kicked out towards him. IF was then sprayed with capsicum spray, assaulted by police and arrested.

IF suffered chest pains and temporary blindness. He was in custody for approximately 4 hours and charges were later dismissed.

Result of suing the Police

IF began a claim in false imprisonment, assault, battery and malicious prosecution. The matter settled.
